TWO PROSECUTORS (12A)
Director: Sergei Loznitsa//2026/France/118’/Subtitles
A young idealistic prosecutor, Alexander Kornyer, brilliantly played by Alexandr Kuznetsov, attempts to pursue justice by taking the case of an unjustly incarcerated and tortured political prisoner to a higher authority in Moscow. The prisoner, Stepniak, (Alexandr Filippenko) is a former Bolshevik prosecutor.
The tense storyline, with a sense of mounting dread, fully portrays the futility of the young prosecutor’s quest for truth in the face of totalitarian bureaucracy in 1937 USSR.

Mae erlynydd ifanc llawn delfrydau, Alexander (Alexandr Kuznetsov) – yn ceisio sicrhau cyfiawnder i garcharor gwleidyddol, a gafodd ei garcharu a’i arteithio’n anghyfiawn. Cyn-erlynydd Bolsieficaidd yw’r carcharor, Stepniak (Alexandr Filippenko). Stori llawn tyndra, sy’n creu ymdeimlad o ofn cynyddo.
Daw’n glir mor ofer yw ymgais yr erlynydd ifanc i ddod o hyd i’r gwirionedd yn wyneb biwrocratiaeth totalitaraidd yn yr Undeb Sofietaidd ym 1937.
