In Dylan Thomas’ radio drama Under Milk Wood, the Revd. Eli Jenkins eulogised the singing of Polly Garter with the words ‘Praise the Lord! We are a musical nation.’ Visual culture has long been a vital component in creating and disseminating the prevalent national brand and the mythology of Welsh musicality. In their new publication, The Art of Music: Branding the Welsh Nation, the art historian Peter Lord and the music historian Rhian Davies describe the portrayal of Welsh music and musicians over 500 years both in the context of the evolution of the self-image of the people of Wales and its influence on perceptions of Welshness in the wider world.
Ymunwch â ni nos Sul, Mai 28ain am 7:30yh ar gyfer cyflwyniad difyr gan Peter Lord a Rhian Davies, am eu cyfrol newydd The Art of Music: Branding the Welsh Nation. Gan ddilyn y cyflwyniad bydd cyfle i drafod gyda’r awduron, a llofnodi llyfrau.
Bydd y drysau ar agor am 6:30 ar gyfer diodydd yn Peppers Bar. Mae tocynnau ar gael drwy Swyddfa Docynnau Theatr Gwaun, ac ar-lein yn theatrgwaun.com – £10.
