Fundraising appeal from the Trustees of Theatr Gwaun

Theatr Gwaun is doing great things, but it needs your support to keep on doing them!

A full time theatre, cinema and meeting place owned and run by the community is a precious resource, and it’s a daily miracle that it exists at all. So many people contribute time, energy and inspiration, but it is very hard to keep paying all our bills when prices keep rising.

We’re proud of what we’ve achieved in recent years: expanding our programme of live theatre and music; delivering a diverse film programme; and, at the same time, reaching out to new audiences with exhibitions, talks and classes held in the daytime. We are also upgrading the technical resources of the theatre, and making the building more resilient by getting grants for solar panels, battery storage and insulation to keep costs down and improve our carbon footprint.

The positive feedback that we get from people near and far tells us that we are doing something right.

But all these things cost money! Although we have a fantastic group of volunteers, we cannot run without our team of paid staff, our website, ticket services and technical support. Unlike other theatres in West Wales, we do not have regular Arts Council funding to make up the growing gap between our income from audiences and our running costs. We are working on that, but in the meantime we need your help – both to plug that gap, and to build up the funds we will soon need for a new film projector.

These are some of the ways in which you can help right now:
