Opportunity to meet its co-star Kate Ashfield. Audiences will have the chance to quiz Kate about making the film and her career in independent film and television drama.
Most recognizable to British and international audiences for her lead role in Shaun Of The Dead (2004), Kate Ashfield is a powerful British actress known for superlative and award-winning work in This Little Life (2003) (B.I.F.A. nomination, Best Actress), Late Night Shopping (2001) (B.I.F.A. Best Actress Award), and countless others. She has been seen in classical and contemporary television and film roles, and she continues to build a varied and exciting list of credits. You can currently see Kate in ITV’s ‘Sandition’ but may also know her for recent roles in ‘Unspeakable’ and ‘Secrets & Lies’.
Kate has kindly agreed to help Theatr Gwaun’s fundraising efforts, directed towards encouraging more local people to use the theatre to create their own material and put on live performances. ‘I am really pleased that Theatr Gwaun is finding new ways to engage with local people. As actors, performers and producers we need to be in front of audiences not just in front of the camera. ‘I’ll be ready to answer questions from anyone – if there are young people thinking about performance as a career please come along and I will be happy to share my experiences’.
Shaun of the Dead is a 2004 horror comedy film directed by Edgar Wright, who co-wrote it with Simon Pegg. The film stars Pegg and Nick Frost as mates Shaun and Ed, Londoners who are caught in an apocalyptic zombie uprising and attempt to take refuge in a local pub with their loved ones.
All profits will be directed to launching a new project ‘SHOWUP@TheatrGwaun’ which will feature a programme of professional tuition for anyone interested in performing and developing production, technical and creative skills.
